This module highlights journalists’ obligation to rigorously verify the reliability of their sources and to identify them whenever possible in order to ensure the credibility of the information they report. It also explains that anonymity may be granted, but only in exceptional circumstances. The module further addresses agreements with sources and the issue of compensating sources for information.
